Political Science and Public Administration

General Information

The field of Political Science and Public Administration examines political processes and structures at local and global levels, helps us understand the points where political and administrative processes intersect with areas such as economy, sociology, law and technology, and helps us draw theoretical and practical conclusions in this context. While the interaction between local, regional and global processes increases with the pressure of globalization and the effects of decisions taken within national borders are carried beyond these borders, Political Science and Public Administration asks new questions about both these political interaction processes and local and global organizational structures, and enables us to better understand the changing world by producing new ideas and concepts.

The curriculum of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Cyprus Science University, developed within the framework of this understanding, aims to provide theoretical and practical information to students who want to study in the field, primarily on political history, state formation, state-society relations, public finance, the formation and functioning of political institutions, political ideologies, political parties, political participation and political behavior, which constitute the main framework of the field. Our curriculum also includes courses that examine more contemporary issues such as fundamental human rights, environmental policies, gender studies, and the interaction between global, regional, national, and local politics.

Considering the interdisciplinary approach that is a necessity in today’s working life, our curriculum offers students the opportunity to enrich their knowledge in the fields of law, sociology, human resources management, statistics and economics that intersect with Political Science and Public Administration and to gain basic transferable skills such as critical thinking, written and oral communication and leadership.
