Mechatronics Engineering

General Information

The Cyprus Science University Mechatronics program is based on the basic understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering applied in the field of robotics. In addition to the training of candidate professionals in the design, production and control of engineering systems in the CSU Mechatronics Engineering Department, research and development projects are carried out. Our department is fully equipped with physical facilities such as laboratories with modern technology that serve education and research activities.

Purpose of the Program Goals Education-Training Methods Career Opportunities Academic Staff Contact

Mechatronics, in its simplest terms, is a branch of engineering that deals with systems that are a combination of machinery, electronics and software. Mechatronics is a synergistic combination of mechanical engineering, electronics, control and computer systems; an interdisciplinary branch of engineering that deals with the design of products whose functions are based on the integration of mechanical, electronic, computer and software technology and are used to establish advanced products, processes and systems.

The undergraduate program in Mechatronic Engineering at Cyprus Science University aims to present electrical, electronics (including optics), mechanical and computer engineering to students in a meaningful integrity; thus, to train engineers who can use the necessary sub-technologies to create a ‘smart’ electro-mechanical system or who can carry out product design by communicating with experts in this field.

A student who holds a diploma in Mechatronic Engineering from Cyprus Science University and is equipped with the versatile, integrated knowledge and concepts mentioned above will have the privilege of finding a job in high-tech companies operating with production systems integrated with computers, as well as in research centers that develop and use advanced automation products.

Cyprus Science University aims to contribute to closing the gap in the trained personnel power felt in our country in this strategic and important scientific field.

Beyond providing our students with the latest information in the fields of mechatronics and control, our goal is to train individuals who can use contemporary technologies by encouraging creative development.

As the Mechatronics Engineering Department, our goal is to train engineers who produce and direct technology at national and international levels, are sensitive to society and the environment, are prone to teamwork, have advanced leadership skills, are creative, researcher and entrepreneur with the synergy created by advanced technology-focused, dynamic, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary programs.

Teaching – learning methods and strategies are selected in a way that will increase students’ skills such as self-study, lifelong learning, observation, teaching others, research and presentation, critical thinking, teamwork, effective use of informatics, and practical application. Our undergraduate program, with our distinguished academics and expert staff, prepares our students as mechatronic engineers of the future.

Job Opportunities

Mechatronics Engineering has a wide range of work areas, located at the intersection of mechanical, electronic, computer and control engineering. Mechatronic engineers can work in areas such as the design and development of automation systems in the automotive industry, the production and programming of robotic systems, smart factories and industry 4.0 applications, and the development and maintenance of medical devices. They can also find work in various sectors such as the design of unmanned aerial vehicles and autonomous systems in the defense industry, the optimization of renewable energy systems, automation solutions in agricultural technologies and the development of smart home systems in consumer electronics. Thanks to their multidisciplinary structure, mechatronic engineers play a critical role in both product development and design stages and production processes. They have the opportunity to work in public and private sector organizations, research and development laboratories and academic institutions, and can also work in positions such as project management, system integration and consultancy.
