Guidance and Psychological Counseling Doctorate Program

General Information

The language of instruction is Turkish. The guidance and psychological counseling doctoral program started accepting its first students in the 2019-2020 spring semester. The guidance and psychological counseling doctoral program covers topics such as basic approaches and practices of psychological counseling, counseling theories, psychopathology, new counseling approaches, ethical problems and ethical principles, career development, career problems. The guidance and psychological counseling doctoral program requires the completion of 240 ECTS credits, 120 ECTS courses and 120 ECTS thesis. Accordingly, the guidance and psychological counseling doctoral program consists of 8 courses, 1 seminar, proficiency exam, and thesis study. The duration of completing the doctoral courses is 3 semesters. The thesis study must be completed in four semesters. In order to be considered successful in a course, the doctoral student must receive at least a BB grade as a semester grade from that course. Students must attend at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the practices.

Job Opportunities

Those who complete the guidance and psychological counseling doctoral program can work as academicians with the title of doctor, and can also work in application areas such as school-based guidance and psychological counseling practices, mental health counseling, individual and group counseling practices, career counseling, family and couple counseling.
