Architecture is one of the oldest professional disciplines in human history. The profession of architecture aims to create solid, safe, functional, healthy and aesthetically rich buildings and similar spaces for people by using scientific and artistic principles. In this context, the profession of architecture has an important role in the artistic and cultural development of society.
The Department of Architecture, located within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of Cyprus Science University, was established in 2018. The language of education of the Department of Architecture Undergraduate Program is English. The Undergraduate Program consists of 4 years and 8 semesters. The vision of the Department of Architecture Undergraduate Program is to train contemporary architects who think critically within the framework of international standards and ethical values, are creative, develop a holistic approach to problems, can use current and modern technologies, are sensitive to social and environmental problems and have strong foreign language skills. In this context, the mission of our Department is to be a Department that develops cooperation at national and international levels within the framework of scientific and artistic activities and provides quality education with high technologies. Graduates from the Department of Architecture are awarded the ‘Architect Undergraduate Diploma’. Our graduates receive the ‘Architect Title’.
The Department of Architecture Education and Training System follows a holistic approach in spatial design using science, art and technology. It also aims to serve as a bridge between interior space (interior architecture) and exterior space (landscape architecture) by following an interdisciplinary approach.
Job Opportunities
Design studios are at the center of the education-training program. Design studios, which start in the first year, continue for four years. The main purpose of the design studios is to strengthen the education process by developing students’ own individual original projects, participating in teamwork, and developing cooperation with other departments of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (e.g. Interior Architecture, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture).
Graduates of the Department of Architecture can choose Postgraduate Programs (Master’s and Doctorate) and aim for a future in an academic context.
Graduates of the Department of Architecture can work in the public sector, in the private sector in Turkey and abroad (e.g. in architectural offices), or they can establish their own workplaces and participate in construction and similar sectors with project work. In addition, they can seize opportunities for new job opportunities by participating in national and international design projects.
