General Information
Today, the degree of communication and interaction between people, societies and states living in different parts of the world is gradually increasing within the framework of the concept of “interdependence”. This process, which restructures the world, eliminates heterogeneous differences and is briefly called “globalization”, also has effects on the level of nation states. The types of relations that emerge in the form of conflict or cooperation between states and non-state organizations can often turn into problems. Any development experienced in the world can make it difficult for states to remain indifferent to this event.
Considering the above-mentioned issues, the need for individuals who can understand, explain and comment on international relations, think analytically, consider the complex dynamics of international relations and make multi-dimensional evaluations has increased; international relations as a field of social science has become more valuable. In this context, our department aims to train graduates who can follow political, historical, social and economic developments at regional and global levels, explain the relations of states with each other and international organizations, have a broad horizon, can foresee political developments, are qualified, have developed analysis and synthesis skills, and can use their knowledge and intellectual accumulation in the field. The main purpose of the program is to train professionals with excellent skills who can conduct research in their field, for the public sector or for private sector organizations that prefer the effective participation of experts trained in political science and international relations from a professional perspective. The aim of the department is to train students for public policy analysis, development, management and proposal, and to provide them with the necessary basic equipment for the positions they will take in public sector institutions that require knowledge and skills in political science and international relations. The department also aims to train students for the positions they will take in private sector companies that require knowledge and skills in political science and international relations.
The aim is for our students to evaluate political issues, national/international problems with appropriate methods and perspectives; it is aimed for our graduates to be able to express their ideas clearly, comfortably and accurately in various business areas in both public and private sectors and to have healthy communication skills. In order to achieve the stated goals, within the scope of education-teaching methods in our department, in addition to the “lecture” method in which the teacher is at the center, the “discussion” method in which all students in the class or a certain portion of the class participate, depending on the situation, is also used. In addition, the “question-answer” method aims for students to express their thoughts comfortably and speak, both to learn and to gain self-confidence. As a result, in our department; Basic teaching-learning methods such as “lecture”, “group work”, “homework”, “reading”, “project preparation” are used, and our aim is for our graduates to have comprehensive knowledge and skills about various research methodologies and methods.
